Project life cycle and project status
Depending on the project standard, the project life cycle differs from project idea to the achieved emission reductions. However, quality control is always guaranteed with myclimate.
There are different ways to achieve emission reductions. Within a CER project life cycle (Certified Emission Reduction), both the authorities in the host countries and the responsible institutions of the United Nations have to be involved. These two authorities are not involved in the VER project life cycle (Verified Emission Reduction) . However, the steps involved are very similar in principle. In both cases, quality control is assured through validation and regular inspection by a UN-recognised agency.
At the beginning of any carbon offset project, there is always a Project Idea Note (PIN), which contains key information about the project and a rough estimate of emission reductions. myclimate checks the compatibility with UN criteria and then decides which standard and project life cycle is selected.
The project status identifies where in the project life cycle a specific project is.
