Donation projects

myclimate develops and supports projects in a new area of activity - the area of land use and forestry. With these donation projects myclimate contributes to the international efforts of forest conservation. Deforestation today is responsible for estimated 17.4 percent of total anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions (IPCC 2007).

As the classical myclimate carbon offset projects these community-based land-use projects aim, in addition to reduce emissions, provide added ecosystem services that support rural livelihoods and help adapt to the consequences of climate change. However, due to their small scale and high certification costs, no carbon emission certificates will be emitted. Instead a performance based monitoring system will guarantee the donor concrete results for their support.

These projects create a win-win situation for reducing CO2, climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation and improving peoples’ livelihoods. This also includes supporting the affected population to adapt to climate change through income diversification.
