In collaboration with an experienced Indian company, myclimate is implementing several new biomass gasification plants for electricity generation. For this, local farmers supply agricultural waste and biomass from controlled cultivation, which is then used for the production of electricity.
Many rural communities in India have no established power supply. In such regions, biological waste from agriculture is used for the production of clean electricity.
In collaboration with an experienced Indian company , myclimate is implementing several new biomass gasification plants to produce electricity, with an output of 50 to 100 kW each. Local farmers will supply agricultural waste and biomass from controlled cultivation, which will then be used for the production of electricity. In this way, the use of power predominantly generated with diesel generators becomes superfluous. Through the project, CO2 emissions can be reduced by 12,000 tons per 100 kW power plant over 10 years.
The project includes a comprehensive concept for the rural development and improvement of the local living conditions: The planned biomass power plant secures not only the local electric power supply, but at the same time also promotes the development of local micro businesses, which supply the power plant with sustainably generated biomass and simultaneously purchase power themselves. Thus the power plant is operated economically. These micro businesses, for example a rice mill or a refrigerated warehouse for storing agricultural products, create valuable jobs in the region and increase the share of the local farmers in the value-added chain of agricultural products.
myclimate is cooperating with local partners on-site: An established Indian company takes over the construction and operation of the power plants. The company developed the comprehensive concept for the supply of the rural zones with power through biomass gasification and has gathered valuable experiences with similar projects over the last few years. A local NGO (DESI Power's Employment and Power (EmPower) Partnership Program) is responsible for the implementation and administration.
