Climate-Neutral Advertising Material

myclimate has carried out extensive carbon footprinting at product level for classic advertising and promotional items for the company bbtrading from Dietikon. Using the findings, bbtrading can now offer its customers climate-neutral advertising material across all product groups.

"We are pleased to be making a contribution to the environment and future generations. In this way, we are committing actively to sustainable production and are becoming the first advertising product retailer in the world to offer our customers the service 'climate-neutral product with myclimate'", says Maja Bürkli, who is responsible for sustainability and purchasing at bbtrading.

In the extensive analysis and calculation for each advertising material group, the factors of material, weight, packaging and the respective production process and transport were included. By clicking on the button "calculate climate neutrality" in the bbtrading online shop or in a personal consultation, customers can have climate neutrality included in the quote and order in a simple process. When ordering, for example, 1,000 printed mouse mats, the surcharge for climate neutrality is only one per cent of the order value. For 10,000 balloons printed in colour, the contribution for climate neutrality amounts to three per cent.    

The money is used in the myclimate project "Cooking with corncobs instead of coal" in China. There, in the provinces of Hubei and Guizhou, clean gas stoves running on biomass replace traditional coal-burning stoves in rural households. Replacing coal with biomass reduces CO2 emissions and improves the air quality inside people's homes – and thus the health of women and children.

In addition to climate neutrality, bbtrading also offers its customers advertising items produced according to further environmental standards such as Fairtrade and FSC.
