CO2 emissions in the home

Our homes and lifestyles affect the climate. The heating of rooms and water, and to a certain degree household electricity consumption, is responsible for a considerable amount of greenhouse gas emissions. In Switzerland, after the transport sector, the household sector is the most climate-damaging.

Almost all the climate-impacting emissions from the household sector can be attributed to heating (88 percent) and water heating (12 percent). By comparison, household power and the operation of electrical appliances is insignificant in Switzerland.
