Three years ago Daphne Abderhalden and Sascha Inderbitzi, students of the Berufsschule für Gestaltung in Zurich, started to dream about running their own fashion show. A catwalk event, which is different from all the other fashion shows and which provokes cause of the combination between fashion and trash and among trends and recycling. Now, their vague idea becomes reality: on Saturday, 24th of August the platform "WASTEf a s h i o n" makes its debut with the eponymous fashion show in Zurich (Remise, Lagerstrasse 98, 8004 Zurich, 8:00 pm). The event is already fully booked, but myclimate is raffling off the last two tickets.

"With the catwalk our aim is to tell a story about fashion, waste and recycling, thereby creating tension and giving the opportunity for individual interpretation. We will showcase what land mass of textiles turns into trash after a short time and how much of it could be recycled!", explains initiator Sascha Inderbitzi. The guests get to see breath taking Haute Couture dresses made from recycled materials and an astonishing choreography. The evening starts with a Prosecco aperitif with organic and fair trade snacks.

The dresses were designed and manufactured by five designers. 16 upcoming models who are prepared from young stylists and makeup artists will present them. WASTEf a s h i o n at all offers its 47 members a platform for mutual communication.

myclimate became aware of the platform due to the project "Climate Laboratory" in which WASTEf a s h i o n has been awarded with the first prize in the category planning. For the fashion show myclimate has created an extensive carbon balance and thereby calculated savings of almost 50% carbon emissions. By compensation the remaining, unavoidable emissions myclimate supports the event actively. In return, myclimate raffles the last two tickets for WASTEf a s h i o n. Those who want to be part of this extraordinary evening, need to send an email with subject "Waste Fashion" to info(at)myclimate.org. The winners will be drawn on Wednesday morning, the 21st August.
