German Olympic team will fly climate neutral to London
The German Olympic team flies carbon neutral with myclimate to the Games in London supporting a high-quality climate offset project in Brazil.
The air and sea travel additional to the freight transport of the German Olympic team (athletes and coaches) to London will be carbon neutral. Initial estimates arise here around 500 tonnes of CO2 equivalents. The final Calculation will be done after the Olympics, when the final Itineraries have been announced.
The CO2 compensation is realized by the DOSB in cooperation with Lufthansa and myclimate.
As part of this CO2-compensation, the DOSB supports the gold standard myclimate CDM project in Itacoatiara (Brazil) where the conversion of electricity production from diesel to environmentally friendly FSC wood chips in the Amazon region is promoted.
