As of now, customers of the Japanese travel agency H.I.S. have the option to donate 500 yen (approx. five euros) to a climate protection project when they book an eco-tour. This enables travellers to offset the 154 kg of CO₂ emissions produced by their trip. The money raised will benefit the myclimate climate protection project “MPPL 4.5 MW Biomass Power Plant” in Karnataka (India). This project uses available biomass from the region as efficient fuel for generating energy, thus reducing harmful emissions and groundwater pollution. It has also created more than 400 jobs.
