ITB: Climate Protection Organisation Presents Tourism Awards for Sustainability
For the first time since 2019, myclimate attended the ITB travel trade show in Berlin in person. As in previous years, the climate protection organisation presented the myclimate Tourism Awards to pioneers in tourism, honouring climate-friendly and economically successful tourism offerings and initiatives. This year, Davos, the island of Sylt and the Accor hotel group were recognised as pioneers for their achievements. At the awards ceremony, Fritz Lietsch, editor of the magazine forum Nachhaltig Wirtschaften; Christian Baumgartner, lecturer in tourism at the University of Applied Sciences of the Grisons; and Andreas Stoffel, deputy head of marketing and sales at Destination Davos Klosters, discussed the possibilities of avoiding and reducing emissions in the tourism industry with myclimate expert Cornelia Rutishauser.

Am Donnerstag, 26.01.2023 fand im Rahmen des Bürgerinnen-Beteiligungsprozesses «Für Züri» der Stadt Zürich eine erfolgreiche Diskussionsveranstaltung «Jugend und Politik zusammen für Züri» mit Gemeinderät*innen und 30 Jugendlichen aus Stadtzürcher Gymnasien statt. Die Plattform ermöglichte einen ehrlichen Austausch über die Anliegen der Jugendlichen in Bezug auf eine klimafreundliche Zukunft der Stadt.

Avec l’entrée en vigueur de l’Accord de Paris, de nouvelles règles s’appliquent au marché privé du carbone, pour une plus grande transparence à l’échelle internationale s’agissant de la protection du climat. Celles-ci visent notamment à éviter que les réductions des émissions soient imputées à plus d’un acteur. Cependant, les mécanismes nécessaires pour les mettre en pratique tardent à être mis en place. En conséquence, il n’est plus possible à l’heure actuelle d’acquérir des certificats de distinction au titre de la «neutralité climatique». Pour cette raison, myclimate, première organisation à but non lucratif œuvrant pour la protection du climat dans l’espace germanophone, a décidé d’innover et de lancer son nouveau label d’impact: «Notre impact. Durable» est en tous points conforme aux nouvelles conditions-cadres découlant de l’Accord de Paris et fournit aux entreprises comme aux particuliers une solution alternative moderne, mais surtout immédiate, pour les mesures volontaires de protection du climat, avec la possibilité de consulter où sont engagés les fonds.

Die Energie- und Klimawerkstatt, der landesweite myclimate Bildungswettbewerb für Lernende, vergab am 20. September zusammen mit der Ostschweizer Fachhochschule in Rapperswil die Preise für die besten Projekte des Jahres. Für ihre besonderen Leistungen wurden in diesem Jahr mehrere Lernende aus Zürich, Yverdon-les-Bains, Will und Bern geehrt. Neben der Würdigung erhielten die vier ausgezeichneten Teams auch einen Geldpreis in Höhe von 2000 Franken. Zudem gewann ein Team aus Zürich den Tagespreis des Public Votings. Der Anlass trug das Motto «Volle Kraft voraus».

Damit würdigt die Zürcher Klimaschutzstiftung das umfangreiche Engagement für Klima- und Umweltschutz des Luxushotels. Schon am Vortag nahm mit Dr. Bettina Kahlert eine myclimate-Expertin an einer Paneldiskussion zu Zertifizierungsmöglichkeiten für nachhaltige Hotelbetriebe teil.
Vingt ans d’engagement en faveur du climat – myclimate présente son rapport annuel 2021
Le produit total de la fondation pour la protection du climat myclimate a nettement augmenté durant l’exercice 2021. Le résultat annuel montre un chiffre d’affaires total de près de 45 millions de francs suisses. C’est surtout le secteur d’activité de la compensation pour les marchés volontaires et obligatoires qui a contribué à ce résultat record, avec plus de 3,7 millions de tonnes CO2 compensées. La fondation zurichoise a présenté son bilan pour 2021 dans le rapport annuel publié aujourd’hui.
myclimate «Cause We Care» poursuit son parcours sans faute avec le «fonds climatique Davos de myclimate» et un lancement en Suisse romande.
Malgré la situation difficile des deux dernières années en raison du coronavirus, de plus en plus d’entreprises touristiques souhaitent faire bénéficier leurs clients de voyages et de services touristiques climatiquement neutres. Rien qu’en 2021, 27 entreprises ont mis en œuvre en interne le programme de durabilité dans le tourisme myclimate «Cause We Care». Ainsi, le réseau «Cause We Care» compte désormais 95 partenariats avec plus de 130 entreprises. L’un des nouveaux membres les plus importants est la destination touristique de Davos, ville du «fonds climatique Davos de myclimate». «Shape Your Trip» et «heureuxici» – les jeunes organisent des voyages durables
myclimate s’engage en faveur de voyages durables, respectueux du climat et attractifs pour les jeunes avec deux programmes de formation: «Shape Your Trip» et «heureuxici». Le projet «Shape Your Trip» procure aux jeunes adultes, désormais aussi avec des offres numériques, une connaissance approfondie des interactions entre les voyages et la protection du climat. Cette année encore, à l’occasion du jeu-concours «Shape You Trip», les participants pourront soumettre leurs propres contributions et bénéficier du soutien des partenaires du projet pour la mise en œuvre de voyages durables. Dans le cadre du projet «heureuxici», dix écoles suisses ont élaboré des offres et concepts de commercialisation pour des activités de loisirs en Suisse.
myclimate et swiss unihockey lancent le calculateur de CO₂ pour les clubs
swiss unihockey offre désormais la possibilité aux clubs de l’association de s’engager en faveur d’une protection climatique efficace. En qualité de partenaire dans le domaine du développement durable, myclimate a conçu un calculateur en ligne qui permet aux clubs d’unihockey de calculer leurs propres émissions de CO₂ et, s’ils le souhaitent, de les compenser dans le cadre de projets de protection climatique de myclimate. L’application, initiée en collaboration avec le club des Bern Capitals, correspond à l’objectif ultime de l’association, à savoir réduire les émissions de CO₂ de 50% au championnat du monde (CM) de cette année en Suisse par rapport au championnat de 2018 en République tchèque.

Gemeinsam für Klima und Madagaskar
Die Stiftung myclimate und die Schweizer Nichtregierungsorganisation ADES weiten ihre langjährige und erfolgreiche Zusammenarbeit für die Reduktion von CO2 aus. Zu Beginn der Partnerschaft im Jahr 2008 war ADES eine der ersten grossen Partnerorganisationen von myclimate. Beide Organisationen sind seither stark gewachsen und stellen nun die Weichen für nachhaltigen Klimaschutz in Madagaskar. Im Rahmen dieser Zusammenarbeit sollen bis 2028 gemeinsam über 2.7 Millionen Tonnen CO2 vermieden werden.

Les voies pour une protection climatique par les entreprises - myclimate publie son rapport annuel
Zurich, le 11 mai 2021 – La fondation suisse pour la protection du climat myclimate publie aujourd’hui son résultat pour l’année 2020. Le produit total résultant des trois domaines d’activité, à savoir la formation, le conseil et les solutions, ainsi que la compensation des émissions de CO2 est en augmentation par rapport à l’année précédente. En 2020, il s’établit à 27,8 millions de francs suisses. Il est particulièrement réjouissant de constater qu’en dépit de l’incertitude générale, les entreprises, les organismes et les particuliers ont compensé environ deux millions de tonnes de CO2 en un an avec myclimate. Cela représente une augmentation d’environ 500 000 tonnes par rapport au record de l’année précédente.

Zurich, le 3 novembre 2020 – La fondation myclimate propose de calculer l’impact des différentes activités sur le climat et de les compenser dans des projets de protection climatique via son site Internet co2.myclimate.org. myclimate vient de mettre à jour le calculateur de trajets en voiture avec les données sur les émissions actuelles et en ajoutant d’autres motorisations et carburants. La catégorie des voitures électriques qui est maintenant prise en compte affiche les valeurs les plus faibles. Le calculateur des croisières a, lui aussi, été mis à jour.
Des apprentis de Zurich, Nyon et Genève ont été récompensés – la cérémonie de remise des prix a eu lieu
Mardi dernier, le 29 septembre, l'Atelier de l’énergie et du climat, le concours national de formation de myclimate pour les apprenti.e.s, en collaboration avec la Haute école spécialisée de Suisse orientale à Rapperswil, a décerné les prix aux meilleurs projets de l'année. Des équipes de Nyon et de Genève et deux apprentis de Zurich ont été récompensés pour leurs projets en faveur de l’environnement. Les quatre équipes gagnantes ont également reçu un prix en espèces de 2 000 francs suisses. Une équipe d'Olten a également remporté le prix du jour de la meilleure représentation. L'événement s'est déroulé sous la devise "Jeunes loups et vieux renards".

Zurich, 25 May 2020 – The Swiss climate protection foundation myclimate is today publishing its annual results for 2019. Total income from the three business areas – Education, Consulting and Solutions, and Carbon Offsetting – have increased significantly on the previous year. In 2019, this was more than 27 million francs. One-and-a-half million tonnes of CO2 have been offset by companies, organisations and private individuals. This corresponds to an increase of 50 percent on the previous record year. In view of stagnating political climate protection efforts and in consideration of the current coronavirus situation, myclimate CEO Stephen Neff is advocating even stronger economical, societal and political collaboration, to master climate change and other challenges of our time.

How much CO₂ is emitted during a flight? – myclimate has updated the online flight calculator
Zurich, 14 August 2019 – myclimate gives its customers the opportunity to calculate emissions generated by flights and to offset these via carbon offset projects on the platform at co2.myclimate.org. Using current data from the aviation industry and with adjustments to the methodology in line with international norms, myclimate has now brought this service up to date. Current studies also corroborate myclimate’s calculation and evaluation of the climate-averse effects of aviation, which are not directly linked to CO₂ emissions.
Turning Point in Climate Protection? The myclimate foundation registers strong growth in the area of voluntary carbon offsetting in its annual report
Zurich, 20 June 2019 – The Swiss climate protection foundation myclimate today published its 2018 annual report. The total income from the three business areas Education, Consulting and Solutions as well as Offsetting totalled more than 20 million francs for the first time. Income grew by more than 40 percent compared to 2017. For the first time in the foundation’s 17-year history, over a million tonnes of CO₂ emission were offset with myclimate. The increase in offsetting by private customers is also impressive. Carbon offsetting and climate protection contributions via the freely accessible CO₂ calculator increased by 70 percent in 2018 compared to the record year of 2017.

Successful year for climate protection – the myclimate Foundation board presents record turnover in the 2017 annual report
Zurich, 29 May 2018 – The Swiss climate protection foundation myclimate has published its annual report for 2017 today. In doing so, myclimate is looking back at its most successful financial year since the Foundation was established. The earnings have risen to more than 14 million Swiss francs (CHF). Last year, more than 800,000 tons of CO₂ have been offset with myclimate. In Switzerland, strong partnerships, including with Migros and Coop, as well as a further rise in interest amongst private individuals, have contributed to this great result. In addition, the myclimate "cause we care" campaign which is starting to sustainably change Swiss tourism was launched. Internationally, myclimate advanced its positioning thanks to attractive partnerships and opportunities. Since it was founded, myclimate has been able to mobilise 100 million Swiss francs for climate protection projects.

The airline industry's climate protection deal
Zurich, 7th October 2016 – myclimate criticises the climate protection deal reached today by the international aviation industry. "The concept of 'climate-neutral growth' from the ICAO CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) agreement is an enormous missed opportunity. In light of climate change, global emissions goals and the economic situation, the best approach would be to fully offset the 800 million tons of CO₂ that aircraft release into the atmosphere annually. And with 100 billion additional dollars in their pockets, this is something the industry could do", says myclimate Managing Director René Estermann.
Impetus from Paris? – myclimate Publishes Annual Report 2015
Zurich, 13 July 2016 – The Swiss climate protection foundation myclimate today published its 2015 annual report. The outstanding initial situation as a result of record low energy prices is not reflected in the foundation's operating result. The strong results of the divisions Consulting & Solutions and Climate Education as well as the operating result of the subsidiary myclimate Deutschland do not completely offset the decline in compensated tonnes. Overall in 2015, 550,000 tonnes of CO₂ were compensated by companies and private individuals with myclimate climate protection projects. In 2015, these delivered further record results and positive news for global climate protection.
Tourism and climate protection – a blue ribbon panel on the consequences of the Paris Climate Agreement and the Tourism Awards
Zürich/Reutlingen, 1 March 2016 – 195 countries have agreed to limit climate change in the Paris Agreement reached at the climate conference in Paris. The change to a more climate friendly society will also not spare tourism. The specific effects on the international tourism industry will be the focus of myclimate's trade fair presence at the 2016 ITB. Fritz Lietsch, Editor in Chief of the Sustainable Business Forum, will moderate a blue ribbon discussion panel from 2 pm on 10 March on the small stage in Hall 4.1. Following the discussion, suppliers and service providers who have undertaken pioneering steps towards climate protection will be lauded with the myclimate Awards for tourism trailblazers.

Dezember 2015 –The Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) awarded a total of sixteen activities focussing on climate protection, sustainable development and clean technology at the COP21 in Paris. The projects are named “Game Changing Climate Lighthouse Activities”. Among these are two projects for which myclimate provided significant support.
Shaping the Future – myclimate Publishes the 2014 Annual Report
Zurich, 18 June 2015 – The Swiss climate protection foundation myclimate today pub-lished its 2014 annual report. Contrary to general developments on the market, mycli-mate was able to report growth with respect to the amount of CO₂ offset in tonnes. Companies, institutions and private individuals offset more than 620,000 tonnes of CO₂ via myclimate last year. The Advice & Solutions and Climate Education business areas saw strong growth in the past year. Dr Urs Egger is to be the new President of the myclimate Foundation Board.

L’Office fédéral de l’énergie et Swisscom s’engagent pour l’initiative «Pionniers de l’énergie et du climat»
SuisseEnergie, le programme d’action national de l’Office fédéral de l’énergie (OFEN) soutient dès à présent l’initiative «Pionniers du climat» et enrichit le programme scolaire de contenus portant sur l’univers thématique de l’énergie. L’initiative lancée par Swisscom a déjà, en collaboration avec les partenaires myclimate et Solar Impulse, touché plus de 11 000 élèves suisses. Ces derniers ont découvert les interactions entre le climat, le réchauffement climatique et le comportement humain, et ont ensuite mis en œuvre les connaissances acquises dans leur propre projet de protection climatique.
Harvest Time – myclimate Publishes the 2013 Annual Report
Zurich, 25 June 2014 – The Swiss climate protection foundation myclimate today published its annual report for 2013. In terms of the sale of CO₂ offsets, myclimate has maintained its growth rate and once again saw an increase by around 100,000 tonnes of CO₂. Over the last year, companies, institutions and private individuals have offset more than 600,000 tonnes of CO₂ via myclimate. But the CO₂ reductions achieved in the projects are increasing even faster than the CO₂ offsets sold. In the 76 global myclimate climate protection projects in 30 countries, 860,000 tonnes of CO₂ have effectively been saved over the same period. The foundation’s total revenue, including the areas of Climate Education and Carbon Management Services, amounted to over 12.7 million Swiss francs in 2013.

Its aim is to support social businesses worldwide, which demonstrably protect the environment.
Growth in all Areas – Climate Protection Foundation myclimate Publishes its Annual Report 2012
Zurich, 13 June 2013 – The Zurich climate protection foundation myclimate today published its Annual Report for 2012. myclimate posted growth in all three areas: CO₂ Compensation, Carbon Management Services and Climate Education. At 13.5 million francs, the total income of the non-profit-oriented organisation hit a new record mark. With two million tons of CO₂ reductions sold since its establishment in 2002, myclimate was also able to reach a further milestone in 2013. In 2012, the Annual Report will be published in an interactive online format for the first time.
UpEnergy and myclimate Strike Deal to Fund the Manufacture and Sale of Efficient Household Cookstoves in El Salvador

(UpEnergy), a social enterprise that distributes and sells efficient household energy products in the developing world at affordable prices by leveraging carbon finance, and the myclimate Foundation (myclimate), a leading provider of high-quality carbon compensation products and services, have partnered to sell efficient household cookstoves to underserved, poor communities in El Salvador.
The stoves being sold decrease wood consumption by about 50% and significantly reduce indoor air pollution, a leading cause of death and disease in El Salvador.
