Benefit Event in Lucerne for Project in Tanzania

The myclimate Hot Stuff Climate Net climate education project has now been running for the past few months. This project networks school classes from around the world that share information about climate change and carbon compensation as well as the impacts of these upon their countries. It is through Hot Stuff – Chill Out that a class at the Alpenquai cantonal school (Lucerne) has come into contact with one of the classes at the Mbezi Beach Secondary School in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania). The Lucerne students - supported by the Verkehrshaus Lucerne and Fastenopfer - are now organising a benefit event on 14th September 2009 at 7pm at the IMAX cinema in Lucerne at which the film "Planet Rhythm" will be shown. Proceeds from admissions (CHF 25) will be going to the "Save Mount Kilimanjaro" project. In addition to the screening, the students will be presenting various song and dance performances.
The event kicks off at 5pm in front of Lucerne Station. With the Climate Alliance's giant flag as focal point, the students will be collecting statements about carbon compensation from passersby, who will be able to write these up on this 40 by 40-metre flag weighing 200 kilograms.
