Climate protection in China

Recently returned from the trip to China with Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard and selected representatives of the Swiss environment and energy sector, René Estermann has lasting impressions of amazing project presentations at the working visits in Beijing and Guangdong Province in numerous Chinese ministries such as transport, water, energy, rural development and with Vice-President Li Yuancho.

China is making progress with the replacement of coal-fired power stations, the development of renewable energies or even with the massive expansion of the public transport system and the decarbonisation of private vehicles. Starting next year, larger industrial enterprises will also increase their efficiency under the new nationwide emissions trading system. While much is still in its infancy, the drive towards the decarbonisation has clearly been prioritised at the highest level. Swiss know-how and technologies are most welcome in China. The new innovative strategic partnership between Switzerland and China is to be promoted in particular also with regard to climate protection by means of more concrete cooperation. To this end, myclimate will now become involved on site in China with "myclimate China ltd.".
