Climate workshop at the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule in Tübingen

The university town of Tübingen organized on Wednesday 20 June 2012 a workshop at the Geschwister-Scholl-Schule. After an introduction entitled "Climate Change - What does this have to do with me?" 241 students of the 7th and 8th grade participated in workshops adressing eleven questions about climate change and climate protection.

Topics included "My energy revolution - do it yourself", "Mc Carrot - A project with a bite" or "HotStuff - ClimateNet". Each group developed a climate-top tip, committing the participants to implement this tip till the summer holidays. Each workshop also presented their results on a colorful poster and presented it to the other groups.

For Martin Schall, assistant principal of the Scholl School, the project was a success: "It has become clear that climate change is not just a topic for politicians or big business, everyone has something to contribute".

The climate workshop was part of the annual procejt day of the school, organized by the university town of Tübingen together with the environmental protectio agency myclimate, the BUND, Naju, the youth council, the Agency for Climate Protection, the Stadtwerke Tübingen and the international student organization oikos. The university town of Tübingen is planning additional workshops in schools.
