Awarded the 2013 Climate Laboratory Prize

Energy generation using the warmth from streets. Anti-plastic bags and waste fashion. The fact that a lot can be achieved in Switzerland through creativity on the topic of climate protection and energy efficiency was proven again this year by the participants in the myclimate Climate Laboratory education initiative.

Yesterday, on June 12, the Climate Laboratory celebrated one of their most successful project years. A record number of 88 teams participated in the myclimate climate education projects this year. The best twelve projects were able to present themselves in the Umweltarena Spreitenbach to an interested audience. From the nominated teams, one each was to win the main prize in one of the four categories.

The first prize in the Energy category was won by Markus Markstaller, Gewerbliche Berufsschule Wetzikon (GBW). The Innovation category jury was most impressed with team "Stocker le Soleil?!" from Centre jurassien d'enseignement et de formation (CEJEF). The two team which were selected for the Sensitisation category, Anti-Plastiksäcke & STOPP Plastik (Berufsschule für Gestaltung Zurich (BfGZ), were ecstatic. The Planning award went to "Waste Fashion" (BfGZ). The "audience favourite" prize went to JBT's "Greenlogin" from Bern with 271 votes. All prizes were endowed with 1,000 CHF.

Daphne Abderhalden and Sascha Inderbitzi from the Waste Fashion team were thrilled: "It was great to develop a project together. It was not our primary aim to win, but of course it motivates enormous that our project arrives so positive!"

The Climate Laboratory took place for the sixth time this year. The objective of this educational programme is to motivate the participants to discover and realise CO2-saving potential in their own companies, at their schools or in everyday activities. More than 5,000 participants have been reached through this project and a total of more than 25,000 kilowatt hours of energy have been saved. This year's Climate Laboratory was made possible by the support of the Climate Laboratory sponsors.
