New biodigester Programme of Activity in India

myclimate is proud to announce a new Programme of Activity (PoA) on the installation of Biodigesters in India. The aim of this PoA is to replace domestic energy needs such as fire wood, kerosene and liquefied gas through biogas generated from cattle manure and kitchen wastewater. The energy gained by these biodigesters is mainly used for cooking in rural households. This approach does not only reduce methane and CO₂ emissions, but also minimises the degradation of forest cover, alleviates the workload for women and children and furthermore eases health problems caused by indoor pollution.

myclimate’s project implementing partner is the experienced Indian NGO <link www.skgsangha.org _blank external-link-new-window>SKG Sangha</link> that already looks back on over 20 years of experience in this field of activity.

The first project that will be implemented under the programme takes place in various districts in Karnataka State and encompasses to install biodigesters in 8,180 households.
