The myclimate carbon offset programme “Solar Lighting in rural Ethiopia”, which supplies a high number of villages in Ethiopia with Solar Home Systems to produce electricity (<link https: www.facebook.com media set external-link-new-window>photos on Facebook), is now officially Gold Standard certified. All high quality requirements in terms of renewable energy and/or energy efficiency technologies, necessity of carbon credits as well as positive impacts on the economy, health, welfare and environment of the local community are met. Therefore, this programme is the first of its kind in Ethiopia to be certified by the Gold Standard and the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
