Promoting climate awareness in Kenya

Since January 2012, the myclimate department Climate Education has a presence in Kenya: Merculine Maoncha Rabera strengthens as LOME (Local myclimate Expert) the climate awareness of the local people in the southwestern district Nakuru. At the beginning of April, students of the Menengai Highschool were invited to the Egerton University where they got an impression of the university’s own biogas plant and could try to stir manure themselves. The manure comes from cows which are grazing on the university campus. The biogas plant provides the university kitchen with gas.

Maerculine Maoncha Rabera will leave Africa this May for the first time and travel climate-neutrally to Switzerland. At various Swiss secondary schools she will tell the students and teachers about her work in Kenya. myclimate is supporting two energy efficiency projects in Kenya: “Energy-efficient Cook Stoves for Siaya Communities” and “Energy-efficient cook stove in Kakamega”.
