In addition to our domestic climate protections, Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) by developing countries can make a substantial contribution to achieve our goal on climate protection. In the climate negotiation, there is an idea to enhance NAMAs in developing countries by giving credits to the emission reduction effect from climate policies. To guarantee credibility of the international climate policy regime, robust greenhouse gas measurement, reporting and verification procedures are required to establish such a mechanism. The paper "NAMA crediting: how to assess offsets from and additionality of policy-based mitigation actions in developing countries", written by myclimate staff as a lead author, gives you some ideas on what needs to be considered to establish such a new scheme post 2012.
