KliK – Domestic Compensation Projects for the Compliance Market
Following the entry into force of the revised CO₂ law, a compensation obligation has applied in Switzerland for fuel importers since 2013 and will presumably continue through to the end of 2030. They are obliged to compensate domestically for a portion of the CO₂ emissions that are caused by fuels for traffic (compliance market).
Specifically for the compliance market, myclimate is developing domestic climate protection programmes and projects in line with FOEN/SFOE guidelines and is supporting the project owners and implementers through the process, right up to the issuing of certificates. myclimate provides support for the project development as well as the purchase and sale of official certificates.
myclimate has many years of experience in the development of Swiss projects and programmes. Based on the requirements and guidelines of international climate protection projects, myclimate has already been developing Swiss climate protection projects for the voluntary compensation market since 2007. The first emission reductions for the compliance market according to Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN/SFOE) guidelines come from a myclimate climate protection project. Since then many programmes and projects have been added.
The Foundation for Climate Protection and Carbon Offset KliK relieves its contractually affiliated oil companies of their legal obligation to compensate for CO₂ emissions resulting from the use of fossil fuels. Fuel importers who are not contractually bound to KliK fulfil their obligation to compensate independently. myclimate is happy to offer support in this regard.
