Liechtenstein plans to be the first country to fulfil the Kyoto obligations with the best standards worldwide in myclimate carbon offset projects

With the ratification of the Kyoto protocol in 2004, Liechtenstein undertook to lower the national greenhouse gas emissions to eight percent below the value of 1990. A number of measures, like the passing of the Energy Efficiency Act, the implementation of the Action Plan - Air, or the purchase of steam from the Buchs waste incineration plant by Liechtenstein-based industrial enterprises, have made it possible that a significant part of the reductions of greenhouse gases can occur domestically.
