myclimate honours ten year’s of commitment to climate protection by Swiss trainees and students with a special exhibition

For around ten years now, the Energy and Climate Laboratory has been one of the most successful initiatives related to the environment in Swiss vocational training. A travelling exhibition, which was designed in cooperation with the vocational training college “medien form farbe” in Zurich, lets you review the past ten years. The exhibition, which includes a personal greeting from the Federal President, Doris Leuthard, is open to everyone and will be travelling through Switzerland during this year.

Energy and Climate Laboratory

The exhibition has a modular form with 24 wooden frames. All of the 679 projects that have been completed by trainees and students are displayed on individual postcards. Eight projects will be highlighted in poster format, with in-depth information on their climate protection content and additional exhibits. Further posters will explain the Energy and Climate Laboratory and provide the event and the various implementation partners with extra space, and integrated tablets will provide access to interactive web files. What’s more, a project film, which includes a personal congratulation from Federal Councillor, Doris Leuthard, will be shown on two large screens. The entire exhibition has been produced in two languages (German and French).

The exhibition was developed within the scope of a semester project of classes GR13a and GR13b with teacher Christian Theiler from the vocational training college “medien form farbe” in Zurich. The trainees Meret Borer, Alexandra Wegener and Lea Büchl convinced the jury with their extensive, modular and graphical concept, which was of a very high quality.

“The Climate and Energy Laboratory has been encouraging and inspiring students and trainees from all of Switzerland for ten years now, and there are still no signs of ageing. On the contrary, more than 100 submitted projects each year and outstanding business partners mean we can look forward to the future,” explained myclimate Managing Director, René Estermann.

Launch, tour details and competition

The official opening of the anniversary exhibition of the Energy and Climate Laboratory will take place on 6 March 2017 at the BBZ Biel. The exhibition will remain in the foyer of the BBZ until 17 March and is open to everyone. The next tour stop is at the GIBB vocational training college in Bern. The exhibition will also be held in Thun, St. Gallen and West Switzerland, among others, and it is also a core component of the 2017 awards ceremony, which will take place on 6 June in the Renaissance Hotel Zurich

The exhibition will be rounded off with an interactive competition. Visitors can check their own sustainability behaviour on a slip. The completed slips are then thrown into three theme-based urns. One winner will be drawn from each urn during the award ceremony, who can then look forward to a chocolate-making course and a tour of the new “Chocolarium” for two people, which will open in April. They will also receive a chocolate gift package from myclimate partner, Maestrani

Partners make the exhibition possible

The special exhibition and tour for “Ten years of the Energy and Climate Laboratory” has been made possible by the valuable support of various partners: Griesser Storen, Kanton Aargau, Lotteriefonds Kanton St. Gallen, Lotteriefonds Kanton Bern, SV Hotel, éducation21, Lotteriefonds Kanton Solothurn, Gottfried and Ursula Schäppi-Jecklin Stiftung as well as Migros Kulturprozent.

“Energy and Climate Laboratory” competition

The goal of the Energy and Climate Laboratory is to accumulate knowledge on the environment and the efficient use of energy and combine commitment with technological skill, innovative spirit and design expertise. The competition participants’ task is to develop products and projects that reduce CO₂, promote energy efficiency or raise awareness among the general public about everyday actions to prevent climate change. The myclimate Energy and Climate Laboratory is a national project competition for all those in education or training. To date, 679 projects from more than 7,600 students and trainees have been submitted.

This Switzerland-wide project would be impossible without professional and financial support from different sources. The following companies, among others, have provided sponsorship over the past ten years: EnergieSchweiz, Griesser Storen, AXA Winterthur, SV Hotel, SBB Cargo, Stiftung Mercator, State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI, Cembra MoneyBank, Swisscom and ABB
