Swiss Youth Hostels are forerunners in climate responsible tourism. They integrated the voluntary compensation successfully in their booking process. Compensation is one piece of the broad responsibility strategy of Swiss Youth Hostels. The guests embrace Swiss Youth Hostel’s engagement as the steadily growing numbers of offset overnight stays prove.
In 2013, more than 495,000 people have decided to offset their emissions associated with their stay voluntarily. Those were 75,000 people more than in 2012. This means that almost two-thirds (63.7 %) of all nights have been carbon neutral (compared to around 55% in 2012).*
myclimate supports the dissemination of efficient stoves in Peru with the voluntary contributions. This project benefits the climate, the environment and people's health. With a part of the contribution, the hostels execute local measures for climate protection and energy efficiency.
