Two myclimate projects recognised by Ban Ki-moon at the climate conference

In Doha, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC, lauded two myclimate carbon offset projects as lighthouse activities.

Within the framework of the UNFCCC’s Momentum for Change Initiative with the support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, nine so-called lighthouse activities were recognised out of over 100 projects at this year's climate conference. These are model projects that focus on specific climate protection goals and sustainable development. Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), presented myclimate with awards for two of its projects.

In his eulogy, Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary General, stressed the importance of specific everyday actions and praised the outstanding lighthouse activities.

Lebanese superstar Ragheb Alama ensured a festive and emotional atmosphere.

The myclimate delegation (René Estermann and Yuri Okubo) and their regional project partners Swisscontact (efficient brick production in Peru, represented by Jon Bickel and Jorge Delgado) and Biocomp (compost project in Kathmandu, Nepal, represented by Erwan Sauter and Puru Bista) accepted the awards.
