Sustainability: part of the product DNA
With more than 3,500 cleaning and care products that it develops, produces and distributes itself, hollu aims to make its entire range 100% environmentally friendly. Many products have already been awarded the Austrian environmental seal or the EU Ecolabel. For reliable data on the environmental impact of individual products, hollu calculates the product carbon footprint (PCF) of its products.
With the AI-supported Smart PCF solution from myclimate, this process is quick, efficient and scientifically sound. The data collected brings precision to product comparison, informed decision-making and the development of formulas – by using more sustainable raw materials, for instance.
Big picture thinking: sustainability at hollu
hollu pursues a comprehensive sustainability strategy that goes far beyond the product itself. In recent years, hollu has converted its fleet to electric vehicles. Its in-house photovoltaic system generates a large proportion of the electricity for heating the building, for process heat and for the electric cars. The company favours regional supply chains in purchasing. Another highlight is the opening of the new production site in Zirl. Electrification of production will significantly reduce the consumption of fossil energy sources.
As a company with a large variety of products, we didn’t imagine that we would be able to easily calculate the PCF for most products. Thanks to our collaboration with myclimate, we managed to quickly calculate a PCF for almost all of our products and update the underlying data on an ongoing basis. This means we can now finally compare products in terms of their PCFs, and we have created a further basis for decision-making, both for us and for the customers who purchase the products.
