The two trainees Isabelle Villiger and Aron Bonomo could hardly hide their excitement while explaining their projects to Francoise Holland. During last year's project season trainees in metal work and sales management had implemented and submitted several projects for the Climate Laboratory. The first of the two projects presented dealt with the issue of <link www.klimawerkstatt.ch/realisierte-projekte/planung/details.html - external-link "Opens external link in current window">pressure vessel disposal</link>. The trainees set up an action plan for the disposal of this hazardous waste within the company. In the <link www.klimawerkstatt.ch/realisierte-projekte/planung/details.html - external-link "Opens external link in current window">second project</link>, a cookbook with regional and seasonal menus was created, serving as an innovative "giveaway" for suppliers and customers. The climate dishes selected by the trainees are also offered at Ernst Schweizer company restaurant. With obvious interest Francoise Holland followed the presentation by the students and flipped through the cookbook itself.

During his state visit on 15 and 16 April 2015, the protocol of the French president contained ground visits in educational institutions (University of the Arts in Zurich and ETH Lausanne) and at the <link www.schweizer-metallbau.ch/en/produkte/photovoltaik-systems/range-overview.html - external-link "Opens external link in current window">Ernst Schweizer AG</link>. The Climate Laboratory focuses on “energy and climate in vocational education.” It is a Switzerland-wide project competition for apprentices at vocational schools and training institutions. It combines youthful creativity and engagement with well-founded environmental, energy, and climate knowledge. The students invent products and start projects that reduce CO₂, are energy efficient or sensitize for environmental matters. More than 6,000 students from around 125 schools, training associations and companies participated in the last seven years - 467 projects have been realized so far.
