Anyone who buys a stadium ticket for TSG Hoffenheim in the online shop of the club can now voluntarily support the myclimate carbon offset project «Small-Scale Farmers Reforest Forests» in Uganda. During the booking process, they have the option of purchasing one or more tree seedlings for one euro each for the project, for each stadium ticket that is purchased.
The donation initiative encourages small farmers to get involved in reforestation and to manage existing forests in such a way that they can serve as a foundation for long-term sustainable land use and the absorption of CO₂. The donations therefore not only help to protect the climate, but also the local population. To date, this project has already created income opportunities for more than 1700 small farmers. With around 370,000 trees, 1773 hectares of land have been reforested to date – equivalent to a total area of more than 2500 football pitches.
This is not the football club’s first climate protection campaign. At the start of the season, TSG Hoffenheim had already made all of its activities climate-neutral as part of its future strategy «TSG ist Bewegung» (TSG is movement), and it also offsets the journeys of the guest teams and referees.
