myclimate honours ten year’s of commitment to climate protection by Swiss trainees and students with a special exhibition

For around ten years now, the Energy and Climate Laboratory has been one of the most successful initiatives related to the environment in Swiss vocational training. A travelling exhibition, which was designed in cooperation with the vocational training college “medien form farbe” in Zurich, lets you review the past ten years. The exhibition, which includes a personal greeting from the Federal President, Doris Leuthard, is open to everyone and will be travelling through Switzerland during this year.

The exhibition has a modular form with 24 wooden frames. All of <link www.energie-klimawerkstatt.ch/nc/projekte.html - external-link "Opens external link in current window">the 679 projects</link> that have been completed by trainees and students are displayed on individual postcards. Eight projects will be highlighted in poster format, with in-depth information on their climate protection content and additional exhibits. Further posters will explain <link www.energie-klimawerkstatt.ch - external-link "Opens external link in current window">the Energy and Climate Laboratory</link> and provide the event and the various implementation partners with extra space, and integrated tablets will provide access to interactive web files. What’s more, a project film, which includes a personal congratulation from Federal Councillor, Doris Leuthard, will be shown on two large screens. The entire exhibition has been produced in two languages (German and French).

The exhibition was developed within the scope of a semester project of classes GR13a and GR13b with teacher Christian Theiler from the vocational training college <link www.medienformfarbe.ch - external-link "Opens external link in current window">“medien form farbe” in Zurich</link>. The trainees Meret Borer, Alexandra Wegener and Lea Büchl convinced the jury with their extensive, modular and graphical concept, which was of a very high quality.

“The Climate and Energy Laboratory has been encouraging and inspiring students and trainees from all of Switzerland for ten years now, and there are still no signs of ageing. On the contrary, more than 100 submitted projects each year and outstanding business partners mean we can look forward to the future,” explained myclimate Managing Director, René Estermann.

“Energy and Climate Laboratory” competition

The goal of the Energy and Climate Laboratory is to accumulate knowledge on the environment and the efficient use of energy and combine commitment with technological skill, innovative spirit and design expertise. The competition participants’ task is to develop products and projects that reduce CO₂, promote energy efficiency or raise awareness among the general public about everyday actions to prevent climate change. The myclimate Energy and Climate Laboratory is a national project competition for all those in education or training. To date, 679 projects from more than 7,600 students and trainees have been submitted.

This Switzerland-wide project would be impossible without professional and financial support from different sources. The following companies, among others, have provided sponsorship over the past ten years: <link www.energieschweiz.ch/home.aspx - external-link "Opens external link in current window">EnergieSchweiz</link>, <link www.griesser.ch - external-link "Opens external link in current window">Griesser Storen</link>, <link www.axa.ch/en/private-customers.html - external-link "Opens external link in current window">AXA Winterthur</link>, <link hotel.sv-group.com/de/ - external-link "Opens external link in current window">SV Hotel</link>, <link www.sbbcargo.com - external-link "Opens external link in current window">SBB Cargo</link>, <link www.stiftung-mercator.ch/de/ - external-link "Opens external link in current window">Stiftung Mercator</link>, <link www.sbfi.admin.ch/sbfi/en/home.html - external-link "Opens external link in current window">State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI</link>, <link www.cembra.ch/en/ - external-link "Opens external link in current window">Cembra MoneyBank</link>, <link www.swisscom.ch/en/residential.html - external-link "Opens external link in current window">Swisscom</link> and <link new.abb.com/uk - external-link "Opens external link in current window">ABB</link>.
