New management

Changes at the top of myclimate: On 1 January 2007, René Estermann takes over as managing director. Together with the myclimate team, he wants to ensure that myclimate is also in the future, among the forerunners in innovative climate protection.

The foundation board has voted René Estermann, Dipl.-Ing. Agr. (graduate engineer in agriculture) ETH, as the new managing director. René Estermann has been successfully working for the consultation and engineering office composto+ in the environment industry for 16 years. He gathered international experience in, among other things UNIDO projects in Cuba, in international appearances of Biomasse Schweiz, and with mandates in the context of the development of biodegradable polymers. After switching to myclimate, his office will be continued by his long-time colleagues and employees. René Estermann about myclimate: "I want to successfully continue the development and growth of myclimate to becoming the leading Swiss provider of voluntary CO₂ compensation. Together with the dynamic and competent team, I want to continue to further advocate innovative services and products as well as climate protection projects with local additional benefits. "

Five years ago, the idea of voluntary carbon compensation emerged with the launch of the first climate tickets. In the meantime, in-demand products and services have developed from the then novel idea, and are today offered by the well-known and optimally supported myclimate foundation. Top-class customers have been convinced about innovative climate protection, from reputable partners in the travel industry, to climate-neutral car travel with Mobility, to the CO₂ compensation of the Football World Cup 2006.

myclimate founders on new paths

Now the three myclimate founders, Renat Heuberger, Thomas Camerata and Patrick Bürgi, decided to put the focus wholeheartedly on the preparation and implementation of climate protection projects. Together with two other partners, their new company, South Pole Carbon Asset Management AG, develops so-called CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) projects. This company operates completely independently of myclimate. The foundation board is thankful for the great commitment of the founders and, together with the entire myclimate team, wishes the new start-up much success. Both organisations will collaborate in the future on a project basis, and thus utilize their combined strengths even better for the protection of the climate.
