Ten Years of myclimate Energy and Climate Laboratory – Public Vote and Winning Teams

For around ten years now, the Energy and Climate Laboratory has been one of the most successful initiatives related to the environment in Swiss vocational training. The anniversary year was cause for a new record: 185 teams of trainees and vocational school pupils submitted their entries to the nationwide competition. While the expert panel selected three nominated teams per category, all interested parties and friends of the Energy and Climate Laboratory had the chance to choose their favourites once again.

The expert panel: Dirk Steffen (SBB Cargo), Yaëlle Linder (FDDM Valais), Pascal Strässle (Griesser AG), Kornelia Hässig (EnergieSchweiz), Michael Vanek (öbu)

The award ceremony is being made possible by our partner SV Hotel and will be held on 6 June at 1.00 p.m. in the Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel in Zurich. There, they may present their projects to an interested public and hope to win first prize in one of the four categories. This year, teams from Bazenheid, Biel, Winterthur, Domdidier and Berne hope to receive one of the four first prizes in the four categories. In the anniversary year, the expert panel will feature Pascal Strässle, member of the executive management of our long-standing partner <link www.griesser.ch/en/home - external-link "Opens external link in current window">Griesser Storen</link>, and representatives of <link www.energieschweiz.ch/home.aspx - external-link "Opens external link in current window">EnergieSchweiz</link> (main partner of the Energy and Climate Laboratory), <link www.sbbcargo.com - external-link "Opens external link in current window">SBB Cargo</link>, the <link www.oebu.ch/de/home-5.html - external-link "Opens external link in current window">öbu network</link> and <link www.fddm.ch/de/ - external-link "Opens external link in current window">FDDM Valais</link>, among others.

Before the winners are announced, a discussion on the topic of “The Future of Energy in Switzerland - Effects on Careers and Society” with Managing Director of EnergieSchweiz Patrick Kutschera and myclimate Managing Director René Estermann awaits the guests at the awards ceremony. Guests also have the opportunity to review the project history by walking through the travelling exhibit “Ten years of the Energy and Climate Laboratory”. The awards ceremony is open to the public.

“Energy and Climate Laboratory” Competition

The goal of the Energy and Climate Laboratory is to accumulate knowledge on the environment and the efficient use of energy and to combine commitment with technological skill, innovative spirit and design expertise. The workshop participants’ task is to develop products and projects that reduce CO₂, promote energy efficiency or raise awareness among the general public about everyday actions to prevent climate change.

The myclimate Energy and Climate Laboratory is a national project competition for all those in education or training. To date, 864 projects from more than 7,600 students and trainees have been submitted.
