The Scandic Hamburg Emporio Hotel offers its guests climate-neutral stays

The fish market, St.Pauli, the 'Landungsbrücken", the "Speicherstadt"... Hamburg is always worth a visit. Thanks to the innovative hotel chain Scandic it's not only possible to spend a pleasant night in the Hanseatic city, but you can do so climate-neutrally, too. Ahoy or better: Moin!

The hotel, which opened in downtown Hamburg in 2012, wants to communicate its "green" philosophy to guests playfully and discreetly, for instance using tap water recycled in-house or free city bikes for climate-friendly sightseeing tours. However, Scandic's environmental awareness also includes the general reduction of power consumption to a minimum via energy-efficient technologies and transport routes by using regional food sources. The collaboration with myclimate is another aspect of the corporate philosophy. For a small fee, Scandic Hamburg now offers its guests the opportunity to stay overnight carbon neutrally. The revenues will go to the myclimate project "Solar and efficient cookers in Madagascar".

"The Scandic Hamburg Emporio embodies the myclimate slogan 'Do the best - offset the rest' in an exemplary manner. Greenhouse gas emissions are avoided wherever possible. And now, Scandic offers the possibility to offset the unavoidable emissions," says Stefan Baumeister, CEO of myclimate Germany, in praise of the sustainability claim implemented by the hotel.
