Greenhouse gas emissions are causing our glaciers to melt away. According to a climate report from ETH Zurich, alpine glaciers will have virtually disappeared by 2050. To alert people to this problem and at the same time show them what they can do about it, the Zurich advertising agency Krieg Schlupp Partner (KSP) had a special frozen treat developed that looks like a glacier.
The water-based treats were given out at the Zurich Airport over the autumn holidays, alerting a good number of passengers that they can offset flight emissions with myclimate. A rainy summer meant that a particularly high number of holidaymakers travelled this fall – almost every aircraft headed southwards was booked solid.
Once the travellers finished their glacier treats, a little surprise followed: "That's how quickly the ice can disappear" was the message written on the stick, intended to encourage people to think and act. Watch this brief video to see how various passengers responded to the myclimate glacier treat.
