The fifth annual <link www.arabiacsrnetwork.com/home/acsr-awards/award-ceremony - external-link-new-window>Arabia CSR Awards Forum</link> took place on 24th October. Sustainability experts from around the world met there to discuss issues affecting Arab nations. Among them was René Estermann, CEO of myclimate. Fifty-eight companies from eleven Arab Gulf and North African states took part in the forum. Also among the participants were companies that had applied for the highly prestigious Arabia CSR Award.
The slogan for this year’s forum was "Sustainability in times of instability". The event was organised by CSR Middle East, a professional non-profit platform for corporate social responsibility and sustainability in the region. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai’s Department of Civil Aviation, is patron of the programme, which is also supported by <link www.unglobalcompact.org - external-link-new-window>UN Global Compact</link>, a strategic initiative for companies who base their business activities and strategies on ten universally recognised principles relating to human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and fighting corruption.
