Last week, the European Commission submitted a proposal to withdraw the Green Claims Directive. This move by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen came as a surprise not only to the European Parliament but also to several Commissioners. In fact, the next – and possibly final – round of negotiations had been scheduled for Monday, 23 June. myclimate regrets this development in the interest of both consumers and pioneering companies and hopes that the upcoming trilogue will lead to an agreement rather than the withdrawal of the initiative.
