How will events in Lenzerheide become more sustainable? In 2016, a three-year process was begun to answer this key question. As a result, a "dashboard" was prepared under the leadership of the expert for sustainable events Fränk Hofer. This includes around 75 features, divided into the four areas of sustainability: ecological aspects, social and corporate aspects, economic aspects and existing values.
The consulting experts from myclimate are now checking the dashboard for the relevance of individual areas, the measurability of the various indicators, the objectives (benchmarking comparisons) and measures required to reach the defined goals. Part of the analysis is as a contract in the context of the network for resource efficiency Switzerland) reffnet.ch. After analysing the UCI MTB World Cup 2017 and the further development of the dashboard, specific measures will be defined and implemented for the UCI MTB World Championships.
The subject of sustainability in Lenzerheide should not remain limited to the sporting events. The aim is to apply the "dashboard" to all events in Lenzerheide and to implement expedient measures everywhere. The grid also serves as a decision aid to be able to answer event-related questions more easily in future, either positively or negatively.
Philipp Waldis, Event Manager and Head Office UCI MTB World Cup Lenzerheide says: "We are committed to sustainable event organisation. With myclimate, we have a professional partner on side that can support us on this journey with a wealth of expertise."
