At this year’s Secondhand Day, guests experienced a diverse programme in the community space of Maison Shift – a hub for fashion designers and creatives in Zurich’s District 4. A range of stalls in the World Café offered the chance to talk to experts about second-hand clothing, genuine recycling and future measures. It was a perfect opportunity for a deep dive into the world of sustainable shopping, with valuable insights along the way. One particular highlight of the event was the VIP second-hand clothes sale, which let participants experience red carpet style for themselves. Between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm they got to browse items of clothing worn by famous artists, designers and personalities. Part of the proceeds from the sale went to Fashion Revolution, an association that promotes sustainable fashion. The event finished with an informative podium discussion, with experts offering an inside view of second-hand clothes and their significance in the clothing industry. A truly inspiring day for anyone interested in the world of sustainable fashion!
Secondhand Day was launched in 2020 by online marketplace Ricardo, Circular Economy Switzerland and Foundation myclimate. Its mission is to motivate the population to change its everyday consumption habits in favour of sustainability.
