Together with myclimate ”Cause We Care”, Tourism Service Providers are Making Engadin a Sustainable and Pioneering Destination

With myclimate ”Cause We Care”, holidaymakers can support both sustainability and environmental protection with a single contribution. Tourismus Engadin Scuol Samnaun Val Müstair AG (TESSVM) was one of the first participants to join the programme as an organisation for destination management. Further pioneering work is now once again being carried out in the Engadin valley in order to achieve great things together: in addition to the destination itself and two previous partners – Swiss Youth Hostels and Reka – in the future, Bogn Engiadina Scuol, Bergbahnen Scuol and Belvédère Hotels Scuol will also implement ”Cause We Care”. All suppliers are working together with their guests to create a sustainable basis for eco-friendly tourism.

Some 20 providers from a variety of sectors in the tourism supply chain are involved with myclimate ”Cause We Care” to date.

For the last year, TESSVM has been setting an example for climate protection and sustainability as one of the first ”full service” providers to participate in ”Cause We Care”. Other major local service providers have now also joined the programme, including Belvédère Hotels, the Belvair spa hotel and the Engadiner GuardaVal boutique hotel, Bergbahnen Scuol and Bogn Engiadina Scuol. Together with the Scuol youth hostel and the Reka holiday resort, both of which are also participating, holidaymakers now have a sustainable solution for a wide range of activities and offers.

Thanks to this, the tourism service providers of the Engadin Scuol Zernez subregion are offering broad support for a shared and comprehensive approach to climate protection. In addition, the expansion of partnerships with companies from Samnaun and Val Müstair is also being pushed forward. This brings the region closer to its goal of offering guests a comprehensive and sustainable range of services, from overnight stays to skiing and wellness experiences. In the future, the funds generated will also be used to jointly implement other overarching measures on site, in order to noticeably reduce the carbon footprint and contribute to the long-term protection of nature and the landscape.

The programme enables our guests to make an active contribution to local climate protection and our investments in sustainable hotel operations in the future. We are convinced that our guests will appreciate this and want to participate.

Kurt Baumgartner, owner of Belvédère Hotels.

Climate protection and nature conservation are very close to our hearts. We are all dependent on nature remaining in tact for the long term, and we believe that whoever advertises themselves and makes their living with images of nature as it is must also work to preserve it – including and especially within tourism.

Martina Stadler, Tourism Director TESSVM
