Courage: you don’t need it when everything’s going fine. But when conditions change, certainties waver and there are decisions to be made in uncertain times – that’s when it counts. For myclimate, 2025 was a year for courage.
We matured. We became leaner and more focused.
And we’re ready.
For us, maturity means taking responsibility, creating clarity and reducing complexity while remaining open to different perspectives. In an environment marked by regulatory changes, economic restraint and perceptible fatigue in public climate discourse, we made decisions that were not easy, but necessary. We put them into action prudently, fairly and with a view to the future. Today, they form the foundation for ensuring that myclimate remains effective, credible and successful in the future.
This Annual Report shows what we achieved together with you in 2025. It makes impact visible – with reliable figures, comprehensible facts and stories from people and organisations that take responsibility for the future, even in challenging times. Our key figures and projects prove that myclimate has consistently supported you all on your path to net zero – from committed pioneers to international corporations. With tried-and-tested solutions, new approaches and always with a clear focus on quality and effectiveness.
This demonstrates just how much our areas of education, consulting and a wide range of climate protection projects support sustainable transformation. They provide knowledge and orientation, boost self-efficacy and embed long-term thinking. Once again, we are disclosing our financial figures and our climate impact transparently – with verifiable, comprehensible facts – as we have done since our founding. Expressed in tonnes of CO2 reduced or removed from the atmosphere. Because credibility arises when aspiration matches action.
At the same time, we took a critical look at ourselves in 2025. With the postponement of key reporting requirements in Europe, such as the European Union’s ‘stop-the-clock’ directive, which delayed reporting requirements (CSRD, etc.) for the majority of companies by two years, the expected spike in consulting failed to materialise. Changing market conditions and geopolitical upheavals are a distraction from necessary – and already effective – climate protection measures. For myclimate, this state of affairs allowed us to make necessary structural and strategic adjustments. In 2025, we made myclimate clearer and more focused: reorganising responsibilities, consolidating topics and systematically streamlining our organisation. This challenging process also involved reducing the number of teams and managers. We took this step with great respect and with the utmost freedom of choice for the employees concerned. We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who was directly or indirectly affected.
With a stronger focus on carbon markets and integrated net zero pathways, we are refining our profile in areas where we can achieve the greatest impact. International carbon markets are becoming more transparent and technologically precise, with more robust regulatory compliance. At the same time, there is a growing awareness that ambitious emission reductions and responsible climate finance go hand in hand. The fact that we defied adversity to finish 2025 above target in the project area comes as confirmation of this path.
The view ahead is also encouraging. There were record investments in renewable energy and carbon removals, with clearer standards for credible climate targets introduced (such as the de facto standard of the Science Based Targets initiative [SBTi] in the corporate world). At the policy level, there were encouraging signals from the EU, which will now accept credits as one method of meeting its 2040 target, actively building its own market to consciously boost demand. Broad societal support for climate protection – often underestimated in public discourse – is also opening up new opportunities. According to the latest Eurobarometer survey in 2025, 81 per cent of EU citizens support the goal of climate neutrality by 2050, and as many as 85 per cent want to prioritise the fight against climate change. The environment remains challenging – economically, socially and politically. And myclimate is well equipped to meet these challenges.
As an organisation, the Foundation myclimate has always thrived on idealism, and it retains this idealism, free of ideology. Energy, pragmatism and the will to implement have defined us since our founding. Yes, 2025 was a challenging year for us, but it was also a year in which we matured in the best sense of the word. We are still here, by your side, with a clear strategy, a broad portfolio of innovative solutions and a dedicated team. We provide skilled, solution-oriented, credible support on the path to net zero – with individual consulting, targeted educational programmes and tailored climate protection projects. Together, we are shaping a sustainable future.
Not because the path has become easier. But because we’ve learnt to shape it consciously – with facts, collaboration and confidence.
We invite you to continue on this path with us.
