The Future Workshop 2025 recently celebrated an inspiring conclusion to its annual programme with two festive events in Zurich and Basel. The aim of the Future Workshop is to empower secondary school students to develop their own climate protection projects and actively contribute to achieving net-zero strategies in their cities and regions. The closing ceremony was marked by the creative ideas and commitment of the young people who have developed innovative solutions for climate protection in recent months.
The awards ceremonies where the most outstanding initiatives were rewarded were held on 3 September 2025 at the Hochschule für Wirtschaft Zürich (Zurich Business School – HWZ) and on 9 September 2025 at the Berufsfachschule Basel (Basel Vocational School – BFS). The winners’ projects impressed the judges with their creative and implementable solutions that make a direct contribution to sustainability.

At the Heuried Community Centre in Zurich, the group created a second-hand swap shop for clothes, games and everyday items. To the project video
Four outstanding projects for greater sustainability and innovation shared fourth place.
The Zurich Climate AI Assistant, Plastikabfalleimer [Plastic Waste Bins], Fast Fashion – Workshops an Primarschulen [Fast Fashion – Workshops in Primary Schools] and Kreative Ideen gegen Foodwaste [Creative Ideas to Combat Food Waste] are impressive examples of how the next generation is driving climate protection forward with fresh ideas.
With a creative campaign consisting of videos, posters and a website, the team showed how climate protection can be communicated in a humorous and tangible way. To the project video
The young people raised awareness of food waste with an information booth, posters and workshops and showed that “imperfect” foods are fine to eat. To the project video
Together, the team planted 100 trees alongside the Allschwil Forestry Office and organised its own fundraising campaign. To the project video
And because all the projects are winners, all participants received a goody bag supported by generous partners. A big thank you goes to Rrrevolve, Fizzen and Vito Pizza, who not only provided great goodies, but also contributed to making the two events so special. The Future Workshop relies on the self-efficacy of young people and enables them to actively participate in the implementation of climate strategies through their own projects.
In the coming year, the programme will continue to be offered in the Basel area and now also in Lucerne, and we look forward to getting even more young people excited about climate protection.
