At this year's ITB Berlin 2026, myclimate honoured two tourism players for their outstanding commitment: CamperDays impressed with its transparent climate communication in the booking process, while Geneva Tourism was recognised for its holistic destination strategy and promotion of public mobility. Both organisations impressively demonstrate how climate-conscious mobility can be systematically integrated into tourism offerings.
Tourism as a Lever for the Mobility Transition
Accompanying the award ceremony, myclimate discussed the role of tourism in the mobility transition with mobility expert Katja Diehl at the ITB. The focus was particularly on local mobility, which is a key lever for emissions reduction in short- and medium-distance travel. At the same time, it became clear that investments in mobility that is sustainable not only increase the impact on the climate, but also the quality of stay and acceptance among the local population.
Virtual Insights
One highlight at the myclimate stand was our virtual reality glasses. This interactive VR experience took visitors on a journey into the fascinating yet fragile world of Central Asia's glaciers. The glasses allowed users to experience first-hand how glaciers, permafrost and meltwater influence climate resilience and sustainability.
Exchange at the “ITB Späti”
myclimate's Maria Zietemann presented the myclimate tourism programme “Cause We Care” in a short pitch format and invited visitors to take part in exciting technical discussions.
ITB 2026 has once again demonstrated that climate protection in tourism can be implemented in a practical manner and offers both ecological and economic advantages. myclimate would like to thank all visitors for the inspiring exchange and is already looking forward to the upcoming joint projects on the path to net zero.
