Michael Müller Verlag to Publish Travel Guides Climate-Neutrally

The travel guides from the Michael Müller Verlag publishing house list businesses that prefer regional products produced in a sustainable manner. Starting in January 2015, the publisher will publish its travel guides in climate-neutral processes.

In other words, all greenhouse gases emitted during the production of the books will be offset by climate protection projects from myclimate. The "Communal Reforestation in Nicaragua" project. By the end of 2016, the publisher will make reforestation possible in an area spanning 7 hectares (equal to about 10 football pitches). Not only will this absorb more than 2,000 tonnes of CO₂ over the long term, it will also improve the living conditions of the local population.

In this project, families with smallholdings work together to reforest unused areas of their land. An increased area of forestland will store water during the dry season and minimise flooding in the rainy season, preventing the soil from eroding and keeping it more fertile. The project will also distribute energy-efficient cookers with chimneys. This will not only minimise CO₂ emissions but also bring about positive effects for the health of the women, who suffer particular exposure.
