From Impact on the Climate to Net Zero
Over 80 guests accepted the invitation and attended the myclimate event “From Impact on the Climate to Net Zero” at Kulturpark Zürich. Andreas Hartmann opened the event and emphasised the need for dialogue to achieve a successful climate transition.
Christina Roitinger kicked off the programme with her presentation on net-zero strategies. She explained key terms and the guidelines required for a credible net-zero approach. Following this, Dr Olivia Henke (Alliance for Development and Climate Foundation), Marina Gavaldão (Ubá Sustainability Institute), Lukas Fehr (Swiss Carbon Removal Platform) and Kai Rassmus Landwehr (myclimate), moderated by Sina Brod (Alliance for Development and Climate Foundation), discussed the complexity of carbon markets and the challenges of quality assurance in climate protection projects.
Our project partners, including OPENLY, Cotierra, ADES and Silvo Cultura, enriched the discussion with concrete insights from their projects. A particular highlight was the appearance of solar pioneer Louis Palmer, who presented a personal and inspiring journey with his SolarButterfly and impressively demonstrated how climate protection can be made socially visible and tangible.
Decarbonisation in tourism: a shared path to impact
At the ‘Decarbonising Group Travel’ event, myclimate, together with Education First, brought together representatives from the travel industry to discuss key issues regarding decarbonisation in this sector. The discussion made it clear: the path to net zero requires collaboration between the industry, policymakers and customers – from the integration of contributions to climate protection to new forms of cooperation. At the same time, alongside consistent emissions reduction, support for high quality climate protection projects remains a key component in effectively addressing unavoidable emissions.
Film night under the motto ‘Change is possible’
The first myclimate film night on the top floor of the myclimate office was the perfect way to round off this exciting Climate Week. Louis Palmer opened the evening with a short talk about his round-the-world trip with the SolarButterfly and showed guests that the solutions already exist and that it is worth taking a chance.
In collaboration with Films For Future, the film “TROP CHAUD” by Benjamin Weiss was screened, which focused on the courageous actions of the Swiss Climate Grandmothers. The women had taken Switzerland to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, as they believed the country was not doing enough to promote climate protection. A subsequent panel discussion with Birte Rinas, Edwin Moser and Louis Palmer, as well as a vegetarian reception, rounded off the evening and created an atmosphere of exchange and inspiration.
