Carbon Footprint for Companies: Calculate your Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF)

Calculating a corporate carbon footprint (ccf) is the foundation of corporate climate protection. A carbon footprint takes into account your business activities and is an essential step towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Since 2008, we have been advising small and large companies in a wide range of sectors and supporting them on their path to greater sustainability.

Taking action to protect the climate: With a corporate carbon footprint, you can identify specific sources of emissions and take action where reductions are most effective.

Corporate carbon footprint – standard solutions

The standard solutions offer a clearly structured, efficient introduction to carbon footprinting – ideal for companies that want to calculate their direct emissions and part of their indirect emissions, and for service providers or companies from specific industries (transport, print shops, events and hotels). With myclimate EcoCloud, you can manage your emissions over the course of many years.
Our standard solutions are predefined system boundaries that are easy to implement and enable fast results with reduced consulting effort.

Corporate carbon footprint – customised solutions

Our customised CCF solutions offer maximum flexibility and are fully Greenhouse Gas Protocol-compliant – ideal for companies with complex structures or reporting requirements.
They include a detailed needs assessment (mapping workshop), tailored reports and enable integration into initiatives such as SBTi and CSRD. myclimate EcoCloud is set up to meet your individual data needs.
Its technical implementation, in-depth analysis and support make it the preferred choice for companies with a strategic sustainability focus.

How does the process of calculating corporate carbon footprints work?

The project is jointly defined during the mapping workshop. In this process, we establish a common understanding of your activities and define the objectives for footprinting. We then go on to prepare the carbon footprint, after which a kick-off meeting will take place to launch the project. During the data collection process, we support you with any questions you may have and can model any gaps in your data. In the plausibility check, we analyse your data using our own empirical data and confirm it in a review. You will receive your results in the reporting format of your choice. We will then discuss the results together and help you interpret them.

FAQ

What is a corporate carbon footprint?

A corporate carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions that a company causes both directly and indirectly.

Detailed information on the corporate carbon footprint can be found in our FAQ.

Why should my company analyse its carbon footprint?

In addition to existing and planned reporting obligations, you can satisfy your customers’ demands by calculating your impact on the environment and thus initiating measures. CCFs allow you to identify potential CO₂e savings and pursue your sustainability goals.

What do companies need to know about corporate carbon footprints?

Companies should know that a corporate carbon footprint (CCF) is an important first step towards understanding their CO₂ emissions and taking targeted action to reduce them. Unlike a calculator such as the myclimate CO₂ calculator, a CCF offers professional support through the myclimate EcoCloud sustainability software, consulting on your CO₂e footprint and reporting in line with the applicable standards for companies.

What are Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions?

Scope 1: Direct emissions (e.g. from in-house heating, vehicle fleet)

Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased energy (e.g. electricity, district heating)

Scope 3: Other indirect emissions in the supply chain (e.g. goods transport, purchased materials, business travel)

Detailed information about the diffent scopes can be found in our FAQ.

What data does the company have to provide?

The standard solutions offer lists for data collection that include the most relevant categories. Ask us which data areas are included. For customised solutions, the lists are created after a mapping workshop and adapted to your individual needs.

How long does it take to create a corporate carbon footprint?

Our customers usually need one to two months to collect their data. Once the data has been confirmed, we need a maximum of one month for the plausibility check and the creation of your report. A discussion of the results will take place afterwards. The dates will be fixed at the kick-off meeting.
