For companies, calculating their corporate carbon footprint (CCF) – also known as a CO₂ balance – is a key element of their climate protection measures.
The corporate carbon footprint (CFF) serves as the basis for determining greenhouse gas indicators for sustainability reports and for continuous CO₂ management. Moreover, it is required to develop a CO₂ target with a decreasing trajectory as part of an holistic sustainability strategy.
For the CO₂ balance of companies and organisations, all relevant greenhouse gas emissions within a defined reference period are considered, usually one year. The method and approach are based on internationally recognised standards (ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, CDP, GRI).
